    need help with HDS 5

I posted this in the Lowrance board but got zero comments. I put a HDS 5 on the bow and took the boat out today for the first time since i put it on. Its not showing any temp or depth and the sonar looks like crap. Anyone know how to fix this?

Need more info. You did use new transducer mounted on transom or jackplate, right.

Thib, also make sure you set up the unit with "shallow water" setting and select the correct transducer. Set your ping to around 17-19 and i would put it in auto sensitivity and push it up a little as needed...also, do you have a nema network?

used the same transducer that was hooked to my X-135. And its a round one hooked under my trolling motor. I have a 520 C at my console and will have them networked but I am waiting for my blue to red cable to come in to connect them.

that should solve your problem if that transducer is compatible with the HDS 5

    Re: (90xpress)

When I bought mine I was told by a BPS specialist?????? that the HDS 5 was compatible with the transducer on my X195. I do not know about the 135. But, I also had a few days of it not making any since until I got it dialed in.

The transducer from the 135 is the same ducer.that comes with the hd unit so it just plug and play.....

    Re: (barchief)

Now comes the question, will the HDS 5 network with a X195?
If so, what are the benifits ?
Can you see screen veiws from the HDS unit on the 195 ?
I am not up on the benifit of networking the two together.

    Re: (Thefisherman64)

There is no x195....do you mean x96?... If the unit is a sonar only unit there is no benefit to spending money on networking as the only things you could share would be nema sensors, ie temp, depth, etc....you can not share screens from one unit to another....now if you had a 2 gps uits then if would help since you can share appoints on them....

You are right, I believe I remember 96.
Just wondering if there was a need to upgrade without changing units

Went back out today it was acting crazy. Sometimes it would show depth and sometimes it wouldnt. The sonar was unreadable I was catching fish but it wasnt showing any fish on the sonar or anything remotely looking like a fish just red and yellow crap everyweres. Me and Mike may try and trouble shoot tomorrow. I am thinking maybe when i broke the transducer mounts (bought a transducer shield after) maybe i messed the ducer up
