Should I go with a 27 or 31 series, I don't know what my old one in the boat is, when I get home I'm gonna check, the 27 series are 229 big ones, good lawd.
Get the 31's if it will fit in your battery tray.I ran Trojans for years and they are great, but made a switch to the blue top Optimas Group 31 and have been very impressed, they are a little smaller in size, but plenty power. Got mine from Auto Zone in Walker.
I had a Trojan in my old boat. Great cranking battery. I might be wrong, but I don't think they make a cranking battery that meets Mercury specs for the optimax. 800cca or 1000 mca. I just had to buy a new cranking battery and I looked for the 27 series Trojan I had in my old boat that had 1080 mca and I couldn't find one. From what I could find on the Internet, they discontinued it for some reason.
