    Trolling Motor Batteries

After 5 years it is time to replace my trolling motor batteries. I am open to new products. I prefer maintenance free but I'm flexible. Currently I have Voyager 27's. Suggestions?

My opinion: I got burnt on the last set of Delco batteries. I had them for three years and had replaced two in the first year and one of them was getting bad by the end of the second year. Also one of the original batteries was going bad at the end of the third year.
I bit the bullet and went all out. Optima ble tops. Best move i ever made other than divorcing my wife.
They are not cheap but they get the job done. Always have the power when i need it.
Excide is making a real good group 27 battery right now. It is maintenance free. I would recomend it to any one. They also make a real stout group 31.

I bought 3 group 27 Cabelas AGMs last year . I cant say how long there gonna last yet , but they are bad to the bone . I can fish on them for 2 days EASY , at the end of the second day the TM is still as strong as the first mornin . There a lil pricey though !!!!!!!

They not as pricey as Optima's or Odyssey's. I've heard that the Optimas of recent years are not as good as they used to be. I have some older ones now that are fine. But when the time comes to change them I will be looking hard at the cabela's AGM's. Ive heard good reports on them recently.

They say that they only loose 1 % of there charge just sitting there for 1 year . Thats bad azz in my book .

For me the delcos ain't what they used to be and they darn sure are not maintenance free like they were. Went with Trojans last time and no issues yet.
