I think a novice is welcome to use it....BUT ......Professionally I think it sucks as it is a luck bait....A school of 3-4lb bass is 15-20lbs in one LUCKY catch.....At this point why not allow a contestant to hold 5 rods in the water which was deemed illegal umpteen years ago. The last time I read it was an Elite Series meaning fishermen of a higher standard. This does not compare to the U-View which have you seen one on a boat (Underwater View Camera) SI DI or helz even the GPS....It still takes skill....The camera was just humiliation......You could see the fish butttttt it was like F U Move along
My wife could beat Van Dam in one good LUCKY cast...OK maybe two
That would be like Bowling with the pros with the gutter gaurds up
