They say that whatever you do on New Years Day will set the tone for the year to come.
Decided to try another place for the first fishing trip of the new year.
Caught a limit and made it back to the house before the wife even missed me.
Went to a place that I have been keeping a secret (North Pass, Owl Bayou). As bad as the fishing has been at Ruddock in the past year, I thought I would let you guys in on the secret. Leave my Ruddock alone, it's mine, I found it, etc..............
Just kidding.
The weather was a bit damp and dreary this morning but the fish were on. I caught my ten and packed it in so that I could work on the wifes vehicle.
The water was about 58 to 61 degrees. The tide was not moving at all.
Most of the fish were inside the drains. I mean 100 to 200 yards back in the drains. I caught half on twitch baits (Fluke, Floating Rapala, and a Suspending Slash Rap)
When I finally started to move into the bigger drains I picked up a white spinner bait and caught 5 fish in about 20 minutes.
As best as I could tell the water in the drains was somewhat clearer than the main N. Pass, I figure that is why they were in there more than out at the mouths of the drains.
Here is the best of the bunch....
I hope I started my year off right![]()
