    Structure for ponds

Hey fellas, I just got my pond dug and looking for some structure to put in it. I been looking for some concrete culverts or concrete mobile home steps. If any of you know of anyone wanting to throw away or get rid of any let me know. I'll come pickem up if we can get it on trailer. Thanks in advance.

Just an idea but we use pallets. Stack them 4-5 high and drive rebarb through them with a
Bend at the top about 6" to 1' to hold the down or tie them together and sink them. Also check out pond boss for ideas. Toilet bowls are suppose to be one of the best things for minnow shelter if you add bait fish also

Depending on how deep it is, a junked car can be good structure.

One of my ponds is 4 acres so Ive put quite a few trees in it also. I would ride through a couple subdivisions on the way home from work the week or two after Christmas and load up all the ones by the road. If you do trees, I would look at sinking them somehow. If not they will float a long time.

PVC balls and pallets in my pond. Also before filled it with water I plated a cypress tree in the middle. When full the water covered the tree. Now the tree sticks out about 2 foot when full.

    Re: (Thib)

The District head of Fisheries (when we lived an hour away in Ms) told our bass club the best wood is red oak, then any oak...
does not have to be huge branches...
a pallet (free most lumber yards) with 6-8 wrist-sized branches or slightly smaller run thru it at different angles can do wonders.

Recent info suggest Xmas trees have a few areas cut out (for fish to back into) or be upside down when placed in lakes.

If you want to go with pallets I have at least 50 to 75 at the office you can have.

    Re: Structure for ponds (jcdogfish)

I may be looking you up on those pallets. I found a couple concrete culverts this weekend from a buddy of mine. Still need slot more structure. Also, Thib I was thinking about the cypress trees in the middle of pond. I didn't know if they would grow like that when the water would completely submerge the trees. I'm glad you told me that. I have a cypress flat right behind my house that I'm gonna do some transplanting with the small ones. Thanks guys, y'all sure do make it easy on us when y'all have these ideas. Keepem comming!!!!

Christmas trees thrown in a fire for a few secs to burn off the "leaves" then tossed into a nearby pond or hosed down, which gets you down to the skeleton.
