    Re: The Cat (Bump)

I have never been to the "CAT", and would like for Bump to take me. That way I can quickly rule out where not to go and what not to use

Not sure of grass in the Cat, maybe in the tank pond. Did find grass in North end of Salvador.

there is PLENTY of grass in Salvador.. if you go in the Cat, and go into the Tank Ponds, make sure you remember to lift your engine ALL THE WAY out the water.. no engines allowed in there until the spring.

    I have to ask 'WHY?"

If your motor is going to leak anything out, just raising it won't stop it from leaking....

Jeff.. it has nothing to do with anything leaking out. The tank ponds are considered a "primitve hunting" area and no internal combustion engines are allowed to be used in there. They allow boats with outboards to tilt the motors all the way out the water and use a trolling motor, but once you cross the tires, get that outboard out the water unless you want a ticket... a buddy of mine didn't listen last week and learned the hard way... wasn't running it, just had it in the water and got a ticket.

    Re: The Cat (barchief)

Excuse the term but that seems a bit fishy to me. Seems like there is another agenda behind that.

    Re: The Cat (Thefisherman64)

The state has made several duck hunting areas around the state restricted areas ( around the duck hunting season). The western section of the Salvador Wildlife Management, which includes the tank pond and rice field areas, is in the restricted areas. Duck hunters have been complaining the last few years that too many people have been running through the better duck hunting areas with boats, and the ducks leave the area for greener pasture. Most of the restricted areas are really shallow areas, and bass boats would not navigate them. From what I've been told, the main culprits for the ones that run thru these areas all too regularly are the hunters with the pro-drives and similar engines...either scouting or hunting. I guess the State did not want to single out anyone, so they banned all internal combustion engines running in these areas. I really don't hunt anymore, but I was told by some hunters that they had a lot of ducks back there last year for the first time in a long time....and they pretty much stayed back there all season. The ban is from Sept 1 to Feb. 1 .

So, what your saying is that the reason isn't a little bit fishy. It seems to be just "DUCKY"
