Ever been driving down the road in the middle of the summer, AC blowing nice and cold, then all of a sudden your driver side vents start blowing HOT air while the passenger side is still blowing just as cold as ever???![]()

If you have dual temp control its probally a temp sensor.

I have an 01 and it does it sometimes when I try to change the temp. I have to leave it on either all the way cold or all the way hot.

Tim there are 3 actuators, left, right, and main. yours is the left or the main. Should be a code to tell which one. Next time it happens turn off the ac and the engine and restart, should start working again. You will probably have to go the the dealer for the part, but i'm not positive on that, but they should be able to tell you which one it is.
Thanks guys-my son's '04 has done this before. It would do it after he had to unhook the battery for one reason or the other. But it has not done it in a while.
I've never had that problem, knock on wood.

Never had a chevy that did not get at least 150K miles with no trouble. I had an 87 blazer K-5 that had 265K miles on it when i sold it. My 05 has 112K and still going. Got a Tahoe under the carport right now with 125K on it and finally something broke..the fuel pump went out, which is bout right for a truck that old with that amount of miles on it.My Brother has an Avalanche with 300K on it and still going. Take care of most any make truck or car and it will take care of you. They all make good ones and the all make lemons...

You're right, John. Got 165k on mine now and have never had any 'real' problems out of it. Jut the usual maintenance type stuff. It doesn't do the hot/cold thing all the time, bout once a month maybe. But it did it today while my ol lady was driving it bc hers is in the shop.I told her all you gotta do is turn it off and then crank it back up!

Gonna check the dealer tomorrow on the actuator.

John, I agree about the Chevy trucks. I have always wanted a Ford but always got the good deals on the GMs. I put a lot of 4WD miles on them during duck season and they are troopers, ride like cadillacs, but will do work too. I just wish they would improve on the interior is all. And Tim I had an 05 Z71 with every bell and whistle including sun roof and the air conditioner never acted right the whole time i had it.
Man Timmy I think we got two trucks out the same batch. I have the same truck with the same problems as yours. First the fan clutch, now the A/C. Mine does the exact same thing maybe once or twice a month. I just turn the engine off an start it back and it's good after that. I have a couple other issues with mine. Every time I use 4WD and take it out, the dash displays "service 4WD" for a couple days and goes away. However, when it says that on the dash, I'll start my truck and it will be in 4WL or the light will be red on the neutral spot. Sometimes it doesn't even display a light at all...that happens when it's cold outside (weird....I know). Ive replaced the 4WD button display in the dash and it still does it. I'm thinking its some sort of actuator, which I heard was a good penny. Anyone have any suggestions or idea of what it is?
