Jury Duty

I had to report to court today for jury duty, what a circus, didn't get picked today and have to call Tuesday evening to find out if I have to return on Wednesday for another trial. The trial that was set for today was for indecent behavior w/ a juvenile. The state's prosecuting atty every third or fourth word was UH, drove me friggin nuts

I had grand jury for 6 months last year. It sucks! I got paid $25 a day plus milege! It's not worth it at all.

Really? I have had to go several times but have never been picked and have gotten paid every time. Years ago they paid you when you left, but now they mail it to you afterward. My wife had to go for 2 days a year or so ago but didn't get picked. They paid her for both days, but it took about 9 months to get it. But it will barely will buy a hamburger.

Fella's I feel your pain. Last time I got call was a year ago for Grand Jury in my parish. 1st the clerk of court screwed up on the date. Yep, so I missed a day of work for their mistake.
I started putting a bill together concerning the issue about jury payments. I called my local rep. to discuss. the process is quite lengthy in with composing a bill. I kind of dropped the ball on my end to continue the research. But I will continue to my quest to get in the next Legislature session. I am pushing to get the amount they pay the jurors increased.
I will let y'all know if I any help in the area's, such a signatures for a petition. So please fella's I don't want the to be misconstrued I am politicking on the board.
At the least it should match min. wage paid through a 8 hr. work day. Oh, TAX FREE!

Well the one charged w/ indecent behavior w/ a 5 year old girl pled guilty before opening argument yesterday. Today the 2nd trial started for home invasion and I was not selected for that one either. There is still a 3rd trial after the home invasion trial.
