    Fuel line

Don, I am about to replace my fuel line, as I had mentioned to you. I noticed you have said to some to use 3/8" to the bulb, and 5/6" to the motor. I only have about a foot to the bulb. Should I just use the same line, all the way through? (99 225 EFI)

Totally acceptable to utilize 5/16" in your case.

Well I got my fuel line and primer bulb today, (thanks Don!) and now the fun begins. Are there any tricks to getting the fuel line through a crowded rigging hose? I replaced it last year with the old stuff, and it was an absolute bear to get through there. I thought there HAS to be a better way to do this. Well, is there?

Is it ok to run 5/16 from the tank to the bulb in a 2000 225 EFI? That is all I could find last fall that was the new ethanol resistant.

One trick I've used for getting the line "through" a stubborn rigging tube:

Obtain a short (1' long) piece of coated cable from your local supply store (1/4" coated cable works well). Stick it into the old line, and into the new line. Utilize electrical tape to tape the two lines and the coated cable together (tape well, but try not to add so much as to make pulling the cable difficult).

While pushing the new line in- pull the old line out. Takes a little practice.... but you can usually get it through even the toughest of rigging tube installations if you take your time (and use a little patience).

It is acceptable to utilize 5/16" line all the way from the tank to the engine. I personally PREFER to use 3/8" between the tank and the bulb.... then switch to 5/16" to go on to the engine.

5/16" line is just fine for runs "12 ft. or shorter" in most any application (EXCEPTION: Verado Engines).

Hi Don. Is the 5/16 applicable for a Pro XB 250 EFI from the bulb to motor also? Thanks.

I did something similar when I did it last time. (without the coated cable) The two came apart half way through and you can imagine the first words that came to mind. I thought, I did it good this time. After an hr, I almost gave up. Took a break, and finally got it to go. I swore I would never do that again. A month later, I start reading and seeing pictures of all the old style lines that are disintegrating. Here we go again.....

Yes, it is. You can even carry it all the way inside the cowling, directly to the "pulse fuel pump" (eliminating the rigging connection point just outside the cowling, which eliminates another possible restriction point).
