Traded in my Evinrude for Tohatsu 4-stroke

After I did the lower unit repair on my 1995 Evinrude outboard I test out the engine. When I ran it Monday morning the block had hair pin cracks leaking water. This would be the third time it has happened to me with Evinrude block.

Went and got a Tohatsu outboard which I really like their 75hp engine.
Told the dealer I really wanted to fish this week since I am off. They slapped that engine on and called me Tuesday morning to pick it up.
Tried it out Tuesday and today wow it is quiet, smooth idle, and supose to be good on gas.
Get more time on it this weekend due to I am going stay at the camp on Toledo Bend to finish up some dock work while the water low.

Bye the way I did talk to my friend's father who has a 300hp Etec it is back in the shop. The engine will run at 5,000 rpm then shut down to idle. The dealer is still trying to find the problem. He really disappointed spending $20k for his engine and his engine stays in the shop.

Got a buddy that has had a little 15hp tohatsu for 15 years, Dayum thing can sit up all year but when you get ready to use it, it cranks on the second crank ever time! Thats the best lil motor ive ever seen!

I have had a 40 horse 2 stroke for 5 1/2 years. Only thing I have done is replace the water pump and had to have the carbs rebuilt this year because of ethanol. It is a great motor.

When Bombardier come out wit a tree hunert????? I aint heard dat, but I don't pay much attention to them anyway, maybe they did.

The only 300HP E-Tec I ever saw was a saltwater edition. Maybe they did come out with a regular one.

He bought it from dealer in Hammond for his 26ft v-hull boat.
I know he is pissed due to he paid around $20k ball park.

1. He told me it worked good at first and then the #6 piston with less than 10 hours
BRP told the dealer to take the block off and send it to factory with no reasoning.

2. He has been on this 2nd block for a few months things were going good.
Then recently he was driving the boat and it went from 5,000 RPM to idle.
Took it to the dealer and they said they found the problem its an engine ping.
The dealer said nothing they can do the computer went to idle due to that.

3. At this point he is pretty steamed which if I spent that much on an engine I would be steamed too.
