    New Motor???

Ive been on the market for a new motor or powerhead for my 18'6 Trition. Ive came across a good deal on a 200 Opti. The problem is my boat is only rated for a 175. The motor i just blew was a 175 with a few mods, (told it was putting out 200hp.) I believe the boat, performance wise, could handle the 200. My question is would the extra weight be an issue? 431 vs 505. Just hate to pass up a good deal especially when Im wanting to get back on the water so bad!!! Any comments/opinions are appreciated

The boat should handle it. You might have a problem getting insurance.

+1 I don't think weight would be your problem. I've seen people put a 150 on a boat rated for a 115, but it wasn't insured...

Insurance and lye detector test after tournaments if you fish em would be your only prob.

i dont think weight would be an issue, but if it was just add flotation in your jack plate to counter the extra weight ....my 300 only weighs 504lbs, you wanna hang it on and see what it'll do?

You would have to lie to the agent. Then if you would get in a wreck, the investigator would check the serial number and find out it is a 200 then they could deny your claim and the other guy would sue the shit out of you for trying to hide the fact that the motor is a 200.

Like Barry said you would have to lie and that would catch up with you sooner or later. You could alwayd buy a boat with a unlimited HP rating, then you could hang what ever you want..

Have your old powerhead rebuilt and with some mild mods like porting the heads and some hi-pro reeds it would be easy to get 200 horses and still be insurance legal
