? Groove on axle from seal

I have a single axle trailor and I noticed some grease slinging on the inside of rim. I pulled off spindle and there is a groove cut into the axle where the seal goes around it. Is this suppose b like this r is my axle shot like the barrens?

It's not supposed to be groved. I would definitely check the bearings as more than likely they are bad.

Moe They make a sleeve you can slide on the spindle...Or if its bad you can take it in to a trailer shop and they can replace the spindle (pin)

The bearings r bad. I was gonna take it to work and fill the groove in by a lil welding and then put it in my lathe at work and turn the weld down to the same size as the race for the bearings. Think it will work?

You can fill that groove with some JB weld and put a new seal in and be ok, just smooth it out real good with some emery cloth or like said before they make a sleeve to put over it

The area where the seal rides is replaceable. It is a sleeve pressed onto the axle. I'll find a link in a second, I have replaced them.

Can't find a picture, however, I bought them from Champion Trailers Parts in Slidell.
