Looking at those pics of them Rockets got me thinking. I heard the mold for those boats was destroyed in a fire during/after Katrina. So my question is what would it take to make a new mold? Does anyone know?

Kyle who did you ask?
No doubt it's possible.![]()
Those boats are bulletproof. There's no other boat in the world that you can put through that much crap and them still hold together...no, not even Bullet....sorry. We had that Rocket in big waves 3 miles out of Wine Island pass numerous times, then banging on stumps in Toledo the next weekend. Did that chit for 6 years. Duck hunting with the pirogue racks, decoys...etc. That boat had deer, ducks, rabbits, bull reds...you name it. She treated me right for so long...there is nothing I will ever say bad about a Rocket.![]()

My buddy asked Jody, the original owner of Rocket Boats.
Gotcha. If anyone would know it would be him....
I am surprised nobody has done it yet, because there is obviously still a market for them...Look at the prices of the used ones.
Just out of curiosity how did those boats ride??? Sounds like it was good.

I would guess that the guy that bought the mold might still have copyrights. He owns Avenger boats.
I don't know if there are any copyrights or not, but you would have to buy an old ROCKET and it would be very easy to pop another mold off of one. That boat would probably be destroyed though. The one for sale in Denham looks like a good candidate. Stephen, do you know anyone that does glass work or builds boats that would be interested in doing that? I think Jody works for Skeeter now.

The only person I know that builds boats is the guy in Chalmette that has Avenger Boats...I had heard he had a stroke or couple of heart attacks.
Yea, I used to follow a post on flrodngun when he had bought the Rocket mold to try and see when he first got one built. He had lots of problems after Katrina and was struggling just to get Avengers built that were on order. He actually had built one Rocket. It wasn't finished, but it was in the same building with the mold and it got destroyed also. The only other person I know of that actually used to work for Jody in Raceland is Brian Rodrigue in Chackbay. It would take some $$ to get started and some dedication to get into producing the boats. It would be better for someone who is already building boats to take that on as another model like avenger attempted to do.

It wouldn't be hard to make a mold if you had an old boat, but to get someone to do it would cost a fortune I'd imagine.
