    Help me out guys!

Looking at a 2000 model Nitro 18ft boat, with a 150 mercury xr6 2001 model. Colors are black/white/gray. The boat is owned by a co-workers son n law and he is asking $7500 for the rig.......I have NO experience with nitro, but this seems like a deal! Yall think I ought to go with it if the boat runs good????

Not sure how much money you are gonna spend but i would not just jump on the first boat you see.For example for a few thousand more you may be able to get into a newer boat that may have warranty still on it.Does not sound like a bad deal but i would keep looking

Re: Help me out guys! (EvilBullet)

Here is som pictures. The guy said that the boat hasnt been under a cover for about a yr. Hasnt been ran on the lake for about 2 yrs, but he starts it every month. The closeup of the mark is the only mark on the boat, and it isnt deep. The color looks good, He said he will take 7,000 for it, bc it is just sitting there. IDK what to do. If the motor runs good with no problems I might look into it. What do yall think by the pictures, yea or na? Would it be worth driving to alexandria to see this rig by the looks of it??

The different color look on the dash is water. He hosed it down before the pictures were taken.

My only concern is the floor, bc the boat was left out in the weather for a yr...hope the floor aint rotten..

Get the opinion of some local clubbers...seems a bit high to me...I sold a 2000 ZX200 with NO problems and way above average care for under 13 in late 2006...good luck with it...

Man, i'm like the others, slow down and find the right boat. You will find the right boat and right deal if you take your time. If it's been sitting that long it will be there later on. I would be iffy on something that sat up. They said it was started once a month but you don't know that for sure. Heck the gas can't be good anymore. Plus like you mentioned, the floors could be weak or rotten. Be careful on boats that sat up for awhile.

Alot of people are nitro haters . I love my nitro, but the worst thing you can do with a boat is to leave it out unprotected and not to run it. The price seems alittle high. I would have it checked out before buying it, the inside looks kind of rough.

Walk away slowly if the boat has been sitting outside for a year.

Re: Help me out guys! (fishnhunt)

I would still look around some more.If you REALLY like the boat and want to buy then i would do this first. Take the boat in and have the motor checked out from top to bottom. Then the transom, all the electrical and the whole trailer as well.If you buy on the guys word than you're taking a big risk.Let say you do buy it for the 7 grand he wants, then the motor goes out,by the time you pay to have it fixed you could have bought a boat in better shape and with warranty. If the boat checks out then deduct the price of the bill off the price he wants for the boat.If he does not want to do that then walk away.

I don't knock any brand of boat b/c I think that most today are made pretty well. I do hear of some quality issues with Nitros'. I can't speak first hand to them though. Take John202's advice and proceed slowly and continue to look around at other options.

You need to look very close at any used boat that you consider. You need to ask the owner if he has reciepts from yearly services done on motor. I would even bring in to a mechanic and have compression check done on motor. Must realise that the rig is over 8 years old.I would look for something newer.
