I need a little help on the reds and specs

I`m taken my dad and step brother to the lafitte area in the mornin after some reds and specs. He doesn`t get to go much anymore and he took me on a lot of memorable trips as a kid.....made me who i am today. If some one could point us to a spot or 2 to catch enough to keep them busy for a few hrs. it would really be appreciated.I know its hard to give info out on this site, but if you would rather call you can catch me at (601)569-2810.....thanks.

With all this wind I would go back of Bayou Dupoint most of the open water will probably be dirty. The water is also very low so the reds will be out of the ponds

I have never fished Lafite, but the speck migration is pretty much the same all along the coast. Right now, down here, they are still in the pipeline canals in the brackish water. Clear water is the key. This time of the year, we like to throw a small split tail, grub or minnow (usually white or chart.) on a small lead-head 2' under a popping cork. We stay on the bank and fish the middle of the canals, popping the cork back to the boat. Stay on the trolling motor, keep moving down the canal slowly. If they are aggressive, don't hesitate to throw a topwater (Top Dog, Skitterwalk) and walk it across the middle of the canal. This has put many limits in the boat for us south of Houma, but I'm not sure if you will be fishing the same type of terrain. If you will be in saltwater marsh, just find a reef or any point that's 2-4' deep and use the same method. Good luck!

Reds, if the water is low, fish the canals, if it's high, fish the ponds.
