The Borderline Bass Anglers held its first 2008 event February 16th on a stormy Black River Lake near Monterey under a cloudy morning sky with the water 55-58 and the air 53-73. Ricky "Team Nikki's Restaurant" Gillespie of Ferriday won with a 10.60 limit anchored by the 3.00 lunker on jigs. Doug Schexnayder of Vidalia was second with 4 for 7 pounds on All-Terrain jigs (2.20 quality bite) while Joey Chapman of Monterey took third with 3 for 6.85.
Others with fish included: Carrol Ray Huff (6.75 limit on plastics), Cliff Chapman (1 for 2.70), Scott Smith (1 for 2.10) and Barry Chapman (1 for 1.15). Also fishing were Phillip Harper, Steve Gibson, Bill Murray and Jeffery Odom. The 11 anglers fooled 20 bass despite the storms and muddy high water.
