Independence father accused of killing son's stepfather

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - An Independence father is accused of killing his son's stepfather.

Prosecutors charged 42-year-old Larry Wilson with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to the death of 53-year-old James Matthias who was found shot to death in his car Monday.

Wilson told police he shot Matthias because his son said Matthias sexually abused him.

Wilson says the stepfather was picking up his son after a visit Monday when he shot him one time in the head.

After the shooting Wilson said he gave his cell phone to his son and had him call 911.

Wilson then drove off but was arrested a short time later not far from his home.

If what he said is true, it would be hard as a father not to do something like that to someone who is harming your kid. JMO

That's my thought also, What any of us would do for our kids.

Regardless if it's true or not, now the kid won't have a dad or a step dad.
