Got up this morning to head to Smithville, loading everything up and I hear thunder in the distance. Hmmmm, I turn on TV to try to get some weather, The weather channel shows rain up north around the MO, KS, NB border. So I don't see anything local.
I head out, before I get 5 miles down the road I run into a light shower, Alls fine. I get to Smithville it's dryUnload the Skeeter get the truck parked it starts a light rain, I put my rain jacket on and head north, starts raining harder so I head for cover at W bridge.
I catch a few small crappie and hang out till the rain stops. I take off and head north to go catch some largemouths, that didn't last long I see the rain coming again, so I take off the get back under W bridge. I tie up on a pillar with a rope on it that someone left. Alls fine light rain we'll just play with the small crappie for a while.
Then a strong North wind begins to blow and the lake is getting rough, several other boat have the same ideal as I and are headed under the bridge. I notice one boat in particular 3 people soaked and only one with a rain jacket on. The other 2 were looking cold, so I'm chuckling to myself about people not being prepared.
Now the wind is howling we have about 2 ft waves rolling in and the rope I tie onto comes looseSo here I am trying to retie in 2 ft waves howling winds, I'm taking on water from it splashing over the bow it took about 20 minute to accomplish this feet. Thank God for bilge pumps Alls good now. I fish for about another hour no bite since the wind shifted
It's stopped raining again. Let's head on in.
I take off run about a 1/3 of the way back and the sky opens up againmy glasses are fogging up and I miss my turn
well I made it back loaded up in the rain and headed for home. I love Missouri weather
