    Lower Cowl Strainer

    Don,

I’m having a hard time getting the lower cowl strainer out. I’ve removed the lower cowl and disconnected the hose but I can’t remove the black plastic fitting. It just keeps on stripping when I use a wrench to remove it. Should I use a vise grip and squeeze the heck out of it and then install a new one?

    Jason

Sounds like that may be your only choice. I'd try a deep well, 6-point socket FIRST... before proceeding to the "vise-grip" method.

Have the new fitting/screen on hand... and make sure that you're turning it "counter-clockwise" to remove.
