it was in the Yates Center paper said they sent off samples to be 100% sure it was a white bass. Claims its was some 10 #s.

10# white bass, I ain't buying it...Would that not be a world record?
that was my thoughts too I heard it from 3 different people one how I consider a very close freind. All said it was in the YC paper, they said something about it being a world record. My though was that it is not a true white bass but a cross.

Michael Peirce who writes for the wichita paper had an email about it. said it was 9 and some change and they have sent the scales off for verification that it's a white bass. if it is it will blow the world record away by like 3 or 4 pounds i believe. Toronto doesn't have wipers do they?
here is what he wrote in his weekly email this morning:
I also got a call about a possible new state and world-record white bass caught below the dam at Toronto Lake. That the fish weighed about 9.7 pounds sure makes me wonder if it's really a wiper. If truly a white, it would trash the old world record by about four pounds! Tissue tests are being done to get things done properly.
Y a I hear it was caught below the damn from a guy visiting relatives the guy was from KU country![]()

This has wiper all over it...beating a world record by 4 pounds is not believable!![]()
i woudln't think so either BUT if KDWP didn't think it might be a white bass why would they send off the tissue samples? Also a wiper has 2 tounge patches and a white bass has 1 so that would be a dead ringer right there. Might just be a freak of nature?
Here you go boys....Pic included....Not sure its a white, but we will see..

me too, not becaue of the broken lines, but because of how big it is. I have seen whites with broken lines before. Either way, I bet that was a good fight!
If I would have caught that I would have said "nice wiper" and hucked it back. Wouldn't have thought for a second that it was a white.
If thats a white bass I've caught bunches of state records at Milford![]()
I saw the pic in the paper and I say wiper. They had to send off a sample to be sure.

most of the wipers I have caught have broken lines that start a couple inches behind the gill plate while the lines of the fish in the pic dont break until halfway down the body. Kinda interesting. Shot in the dark says maybe a whitey but not likely!
