    Kansas Smallie

Just wanted to let everyone know that Kansas grows some big smallies. I caught this one on July 3rd on a DD22. She was 21.75 inches long and weighed 5 lb 6 oz on my Berkley scales. It topped my previous best smallie by over 2 lbs. I also had a 6.7, 4.2 and 4.9 largemouths the same day on the DD22. My buddy that day also had 2 over 4 and we had a whole bunch of smaller peanuts to 2 pound fish. Matter of fact he was kicking my butt for a while, until I picked up the DD22. It was an incredible day of fishing. This is twice in the last few years that July 3rd has been good to me. Just thought I'd share it with you guys.

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

That's awesome! Would love to catch some smallies like that. All I ever catch on a DD22 is rocks!

Like others, I'm totally curious what lake you were fishing.

    Re: Kansas Smallie (Lsto19)

I didn't forget. Lake Wabaunsee, west of Eskridge. That was the first time on lake. I actually went there because I had heard a report that it was decent for winter crappie. But when I started nosing around on the web, found out its not bad for bass either. It cost us $30 to get on the lake for the day. I was a little p***** when we got there and found that out. When I called the day before and asked how much to fish the lake, I was told $2.50. Well, it is $2.50 to fish, but another $25 if I wanted to drop the boat in. By the time we pulled off the water I wasn't complaining about it as much. And they inspect your boat and spray it down with a bleach solution for invasive species. Then, and only then, do they open the gate across the ramp to let you on the water. Nice lake. Water willow and a ton of docks.

Sounds like a sweet lake. I have heard good things about it. Shoot, I already spend a ton on fishing as it is...what's $30 more bucks???

No doubt... 30 after the 30,000 boat isn't much. Your new fishing hole is safe by me Diego... have a good time on it.
