Question about shift handle on z520

The two small screws on the back of my shifter handle plate have worked their way loose. How do you remove the handle enough to retighten the screws. Mercury controls. 2008 RangerZ520

If I remember right, ya push in the big button where the handle attaches to the boat then while holding it push gear selector to foward, once ya do that you will be able to pry out the big button, it will come all the way out.

Then lossen nut, remove shifter, put a little loctite on the screws and retighten down, then reassemble!!!

    Or wait for Don

Don will ask ya which model ya have so he cam tell ya correctly by model.

Me, I'm just guessing cause mine had 2 screws loose on the back of the shifter also,,,,,,,,,, well 3 loose screws if ya count me!!

+1 And don't panic if you break the plastic button in the center of the shifter trying to remove it.... I still break a few each year.
