    Proud Dad

The U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps National Championship Drill competition was held in the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, TX March 28, 2009. The Leavenworth JROTC Boys and Girls Drill Teams faced stiff competition in the Challenge Level Division.

The Girls earned First Place in the Inspection category where a team of Drill Sergeants inspected their dress, Military Bearing and Army knowledge. Cadet Cierra Why commanded the team.

The Girls earned Second Place in Unarmed Exhibition Drill where they showcased the Yellow Ribbon routine commanded by Cadet Amanda Wielechowski.

The Girls earned Third Place in Color Guard commanded by Cadet Cierra Why.

The Boys earned Third Place in Armed Exhibition Drill where they modified the standard lift routine due to a Nationals rule, but awed spectators by adding in blind throws with their rifles and were commanded by Cadet Aaron Johannes.

The Boys earned Third Place in Regulation Drill and were commanded by Cadet Scott Scammerhorn.

The Girls were awarded Second Place overall in the Challenge Level Division and the trophy was accepted by both Cadets Cierra Why and Cadet Amanda Wielechowski.

The teams received standing ovations for their outstanding effort at the National Level.

These are pixs from an earlier meet this year. I took all video of the performances in TX.

Yes the boys are the Yellow Legs of Cavalry & the girls are the Yellow Ribbons of Cavalry. The Commander wears the Stetson.

My son is in a Calvary Division. It's pretty cool they can wear the Stetsons, sabers, and spurs when on parade.
