I'm taking the wife to KC this weekend for some X-mas shopping and want to know what places you guys would recommend for food and drinks. We've tried most of the usual chain type places and are looking for something new. Any suggestions?

I would eat some BBQ at Oklahoma Joes, 119th and Strang Line in Olathe or 47th and Mission in KCK (the original in the gas station).

What he said! Good stuff. Shopping close by in Olathe.
GETFISHED !!!
You can also try Fiorelli's for awesome steaks and BBQ, 95th and Metcalf. Google for other locations. Cascone's for quiet Italian is a well respected restaurant.

Where about's will you be shopping in KC area?? If you are around the ''Legends'' area/Cabelas, I would say. Granite City, Famous Dave's BBQ, these are my two favs. Plus there are a lot more choices around there.
Will be staying around oak park mall, but will be going to cabelas at some point and am open to traveling just about anywhere in the metro area. I have been to most of the ones that have been mentioned already. What is granite city and how does famous daves compare to jackstack. Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming.![]()

Heres one @ Oak Park Mall
What type of food are looking for?
Depending on what you want:
Nikko's japanese steakhouse in the Overland Park Marriott is great: http://www.marriott.com/hotels...riott/
Jalapeno's mexican restaurant in Stanley is great: http://local.yahoo.com/info-17...anley
Garozzo's, close to where you will be as well: http://www.garozzos.com/
Have a good shopping trip!

Open to just about anything. Mainly just looking for somewhere different than the places we would usually eat. Nikko's japenese steakhouse looks interesting.l
Granite City, is a nice place. Has TV just about everywhere, I wouldn't call it Applee's but maybe 2 steps hire. Similar food choices but better tasting and nice sitting, not a sports bar.
Famous Daves,,,,This is tough, I like Jack's ribs a little better then Daves but everything else I would go with Dave's. Also big protion at Dave's and better sides. I don't think you will be disappoint here since you like Jack's.
Only one restaurant to go to in KC......Hereford House.![]()

for everyone is on me.
Score some huge romance points and take her out for a nice dinner at Skies: http://www.hyattkc.com/skies/
The restaurant is atop the Hyatt in Crown Center, you sit along the rounded windows and the restaurant actually spins while you eat. For a formal restaurant, prices aren't too bad, ~$30/plate or so.
As mentioned above, Nikko's is an experience, and darn good food too.
By Oak Park mall, BD's mongolian BBQ is good stuff and come prepared to stuff yourself.
At the Legends, Yard House is great.
