    250 proxs (flywheel)

    whats the trick to getting this baby off? used a merc flywheel puller and broke the head off the tighten bolt...whats the trick.this thing wont budge!

    should be no trick once you have it tight and it won't pop loose tap on bolt with hammer should break it loose.Never seen one the wouldn't come off.Would be the first that I've seen or heard of even being around salt water all my life

    If it's really that tight... do yourself a favor and remove the crank position sensor. Position it out of the way so that there is no possibility the flywheel will "strike or brush" is when it does come loose.

    BTW... what flywheel puller are you using? Some of the aftermarket ones have coarse threaded bolts in them... preventing you from getting it tightened properly.

    its a mercury fly wheel puller.it tightens into the center of the flywheel,and has the
    3/4 bolt through the middle of it,i actually broke the head of the bolt tighten it

    The "later" version of this puller has a thrust washer and thrust bearing inside the puller, which aids in removal.

    Part number of the newer style puller is: 91-849154T1

    It's a bit pricey- but works better than the older version, IMO.
