    Annual De-Carbon

I have been running mercs for years, I have annual maintenance performed each early spring which includes de-carboning the motor plus aii the other stuff. Since I have had the 300xs and been introduces to BBC, I have also been using Stafoam in the fuel. My question is by performing the annual de-carbon is it still recommended to use the additive? By doing both am I adding insurance or createing a potential problem? I just want to protect this thing as best as possible. Thanks

    Re: Annual De-Carbon (Strokerdean)

Dean: It's an XS not like other motors of yester year. Don or Redline can confirm this but my understanding is to use Quickclean and Fuelstabilizer each and every time you add gas to the boat period. Not sure about any "spring de carbon" process as in past EFI motors but I'm sure Don or Red can clear this up as well.

After I believe 100 hrs it might be a good idea to pull the injectors and have them cleaned and flowed. This depends on how religiously you use the quickclean, seafoam etc and the quality of the gas you put in the boat as well

Quickleen in each and every tank: Recommended Strongly!

Annual Decarb: If you want to, you can remove your water separating filter (when the engine is HOT), remove some fuel, and add about 3 oz. of Quickleen to the filter.

    Then go run it hard.
