    Mercury is the best..

For customer service... I have had quite a few issues with the new 08 250 Pro XS I bought several months ago (March I think).. Anyway after several attempts to get things resolved by replacing parts which keep me on the water but not running properly.. Mercury replaced the motor yesterday with a new 250 Pro XS fresh off the assembly line.. Don at European Marine did all the work and he has all the answers as to why it was replaced..
But I have to say that Mercury has taken care of every problem in a very timely manner.. I just don't think there is any other outboard manufacturer that would of taken care of me the way Mercury has..
There are a few bad apples in all of them it comes down to who is going to take care of you the best when it happens.. I can honestly say that I am glad I had a Mercury when it happened to me..

    Terry,
Glad to hear Mercury took care of you. Can you expand on the problems
you were having. I have a 2008 250 ProXs and have had a couple of problems.
One was a bad ignition coil. Another with the thermostat.
    Thanks
    LK

Didn't hear about the motor replacing. I thought all was well after the foreign object was removed from the intake. Kudos to merc for taking care of you.

Don will be here tomorrow I will let him explain what and why because I can't explain it as well as he can.. All I know is that the difference in the two motors is noticable..

Terry: Very glad to hear that good news

I also agree that Mercury has been the best to work with and has stood behind their product 100% in my own experience as well.

I do think though that in both our cases we have one of the best techs to work with, in your case Don and my case Redline and Merc knows that these guys are the best that they have so if they can't resolve the issue for the customer Merc knows they need to step up. I think it makes a world of difference that we have Don and Redline and we are VERY fortunate

I agree 100 %.. When your the best at what you do people listen.. Not only that but to work with people who really care for you as a customer makes you feel kind of special.. In my case I really don't think that things would of happened as smoothly if it hadn't of been for Don... Thanks a bunch Don for all you do....
I have told him that about a hundred times already..

Thanks for the kind words, Terry. That motor sure kept me busy!

Can't go into any deep details on the old one... as it wasn't torn down far enough to "conclusively state" anything. There was some "hoop jumping" involved (protocol requires certain parts be replaced, whether or not they are defective, and Merc Rep inspection/review of motor). Time consuming- but it's a necessity.

The old motor has been returned, along with a note regarding the "strongly suspected issue".

I totally agree that Merc's Customer Service is SECOND TO NONE. And that, my friend, is the very reason that I sell ONLY Merc's!

Terry, I'm glad to hear the new one "has a smile on your face". We'll do our best to "keep you smiling"!

As a loyal Yamaha fan, I can still say that Merc and Don took great care of you and I aplaud them big time.
