Fish to Catch or Fish to Learn

Do you fish to catch fish, or fish to learn something specific that day.
Whats the best ways to learn the most?

    I fish to irritate Ryan.
Catch more, and bigger, and cast over and around him. I just luv hearing him yell.... "dam woman if your gonna fish on the back of the boat, cast out the back not up front!!"
Ahhhh. nothing like hearing the sound of a bait go zooming by your ear!

    Someday I\'ll be appreciated.

I try to learn everytime I get on the water, but seldom do. I usually just get a lesson in futility.

YES Fish to catch fish, fish to learn how to catch fish with some kind of consistency.

    You can never learn enough!!!!!!

    Both.

When you catch a fish go back in time and try to remember what you were doing when you caught that fish. Were you shaking the jig before hopping it? Were you dragging it along? I always go back and think about what I was doing. Sometimes I will take the boat over the area and look at where that fish came from with my electronics and figure ot what it was relating to and exactly how deep it was.

Depth in my opinion is about 80% of the game. You know what depth they are at, what type of retreive they want and you pretty much have it figured out. Notice I said pretty much. JMO for what its worth.

Thats usually the technique I employ, going back over the catch, but what if you want to learn a specific thing?

I try and learn something every trip. Sometimes it takes catching fish to learn something. But sometimes you learn more from the bad days on the water.. I just know that it is the greatest game there is..

I'm with Mark on this one, I learn something every time on the water and as long as your out fishing...it's never a bad day.

It depends on the day. Some days I go out to learn a specific thing. For example there have been days when all i put on the boat were jigs and forced myself to use the jig until I became confortable and confident in fishing with it.
