I have a 2008 optimax (200 HP) that has the alarm coming on when you first start accelerating and then if you reset it, nothing happens for the rest of the day. It is a hit or miss problem but I will be taking it to an authorized mercury dealer this week. Last couple of time I have been out, it has done this. I thought it was a one time problem. It is a steady beep and I have a code on my smartcraft guage that reads 3.05 if that means anything. Just wanted to get the experts opinion.
You'll need to take it in and have the "fault history" read. Be sure to let us know what they find.... will be interested to hear (there are a LOT of possibilities).
