    Gasoline Budget?

    Are you guys doing one?

Not saying that you can't fill your tanks but......it seems that I have to budget myself as to how much driving I'm going to do on a Week to week or even month to month basis.

Like just this morning I didnt want to put more than $60 in the tank....didnt fill it but allows me to have some extra $ instead of spending all my money on gasoline.

Another thing I have Noticed.................there are a lot of people running out of gasoline seen a lot more people pushing off road and walking with gas cans in hand lately

I went to BPS on Sunday after having put $150 in the truck and boat on Saturday and I told Krissy to drive her little 4 cylinder car, I never ride in her car, but a 60 mile round trip to BPS just may be worth wedging my fat a$$ in a little car.

I really haven't changed my driving habits. Anyone who has ridden with me knows that I never get on it hard when driving my truck. I accelerate slowly. I average 4K rpms in the boat now. Open it up every trip, but not for long. I told Lacey I was never going to stop fishing no matter how high gas got, and I am sticking to that. I just won't fish as much and when I do, someone who is with me usually pitches in on fuel...

If your 5.3 would have cost you $100 to drive 250 miles, you need to work on your driving habits.

I have reaaranged my driving capabilities. Upgraded my wife's minivan to a Nissan Altima to get another 13 or so miles per gallon on her driving and decrease that car payment being we don't use the additional room the minivan offered. Also upgraded my pulling vehicle to a newer Chevy Tahoe that gets me an additional 3 miles per gallon.

On top of that we take the wife's car everywhere unless we are pulling the boat obviously. In looking at what I paid in December for gas and car payments at the lower gas rates, I anticipate spending about 60-100 dollars less this month even as gas prices rise over $4 a gallon.

I think budgeting is important, but if you are budgeting on a vehicle that is only getting 15-18mpg, then just budgeting is limiting your ability to do what you want to do. It might pay off in the long run to look at extending your capabilities.

    Re: Gasoline Budget? (Bowersdjr)

Carpooling, Using the car on weekends and Limiting the amount of trip to lake per month have already helped with that.

I'm just lookin to see if it has effected others as much as I see it happening in Lincoln.

Sure dont stop them from going to the Bars though.......but might cut down on DUI if they cant afford the gasoline to get there

I drive our sable to work about 60 mile round trip. I've just been fishing the local lake, trying to stay below 4000 rpm and stay on the t-motor more. To tell how much I've run the out board is I haven't filled the tanks since the BBC rally @ LOZ.
I've got a 10 ft john with a 9.5hp. probably going to run it more.
I haven't even got to Truman yet this year

I guess i can say I am lucky due to our lakes mostly being 5mph-No wake lakes & either idling ior on the T/M 75% of the time.........if I was around a larger lake that might be a DIffernt Story........I put in half tank this year and has not been touched since then.

    Re: Gasoline Budget? (Ryan.)

I don't budget for gas. With a company car, my gas is free all week, which is pretty darn nice, so I only buy gas when it's time to go to the lake. I'm not going to make as many long trips to lakes as I had done in the past, is probably the only thing I will change unless gas goes even crazier....
