Posted this in the Champ forum don't think I did here though.
Back in Octorber I fished the heartland kick off on T Rock. Traveled up the James in practice probably 10 miles or so. Gas guage reads 1/2 tank. No Problem. So towards the end of the day we are deciding whether or not to go on up or just go in for the day. We decide to go in for the day. Next moring, top off tank and we fish another practice day and also fish saturday on that same fuel.
Fast forward to November. Head out to Melvern to fish some smallies. Run around a little and decide to head further up the lake. Gas guage say little under 1/2 tank. No problem. Get up on plane and the engine dies! Crap! Turns over, no start. Pump primer bulb. Out of fuel!
Troll 2 miles back to ramp. While trolling I think how lucky we were not to have ran out of fuel 10 plus miles up the James! We must have been running on fumes when we made it back to kimberling.![]()
Lesson learned. Don't trust your fuel guage. Know what it says when you are out of gold.
