I got one of the first car GPS units ever made about 5 yrs ago, its an iQue by Garmin. Although there are far better units now, just having GPS in the car is priceless

    Re: TomTom (marykfish)

Got a TomTom One a while back-- My wife loves it -- Just need to spend some time with her. She is one that can not figure out how to play a DVD on our system / TV.
Just load in the location address . save it -- then let her go.
Kathy (wife) has taken several long trip (Iowa- Minn,-) by herself-- never a problem. Got her door to door..I just make sure I have all the addresses saved in "favotes" and "home" setup.. The only thing I forgot to show Kathy is how to change from day time to night time display on the TomTom.. Super bright at night if you do not change it..
I use the sucky mount on the drivers side window close to the dask-- not so distracting while driving. Also - Hook the TomTom to the PC and it will download the updates from the TomTom site.

Not planning any trips for a while -- So if someone would like to try my ToTom out for a day or 2 -- send me a e-mal or IM.

This techy stuff keeps changing.. Some of the new units say the street / road name -- the TomTom One tells what -when -how far ahead -the turns are... it has a few other cool time also.

Lots of cool auto GPS units out there-- Jus depends how much $$$ you want to spend.

    Good Luck,

    Re: TomTom (Tagg007)

Doesnt anyone read a map anymore

J/K...............I'm usually not bad with directions. If I'm goin some place I'll google map it or something to get Direction if I'm not familiar with where I'm going. Kinda seems I miss turn offs more around Familiar places anymore than places you've never been B4 just cause you think your used to it.......Like when I used to drive to Cableas in KC all the time.......had that route like in back of my head.......YEP....missed turn off once and ended up having to go to I-70 to turn back around to come North again Atleast Gina wasnt with me that time or I would have heard about it

I think if you are traveling a lot and going places your not used to these things come in pretty handy......but if your just someone who Occationally travels(me) I dont think its necessary to actually have one..........It could come in useful I'm sure but thats why I buy Topo and Backroads maps..........atleast I know I wont have to rely on the SD card or memeory to bring it up

Still might consider getting one if the price comes down a bit more

Before I got to see Casey's in work I thought they were prettyuseless but Casey's has bailed us out of some bad turns more than once. If I was still driving 10k a month doing deliveries I would have one in a heartbeat.

It is also nice that you can look up businesses in the town you are going to and make reservations (hotel, pizza etc...) all while you are traveling down the road.

I have been looking at one but think I will hold off right now.
