Hey,
Would any of you Eldorado afficianados be able to tell me what the water clarity is like in the lower end of the lake? For example, how far down would you be able to see a white fluke?

I was out last Saturday, the water seemed awfully dirty to me, even in the lower end. I would think you could see a white fluke in a foot of water.
Eldorado,
I was at Eldorado on Sunday and water temps were between 56 and 60 degrees. They will probably go down with the cold weather we are having. The water was a bit dirtier than I expected. Last year when the lake was really low it was quite clear due to the zebra musssels and lack of rain. The water by the dam is fishable and depending on the area you could see a white tube down a foot or a bit more. The fish were biting for us using tubes mainly. One thing nice is all the zebra mussels that were high and dry for a year have died and fishing right now is much easier. Last year a times you would cast out your tube and break it off before you even moved it! I have fished at least 3 lakes with zebra mussels (Champlain, Dardnelle, and the Ark River in Ok) and none have had zebra mussels like Eldorado has! You could bring up a big wad of them on your hook at times the size of a golf ball or bigger. I think the fishing there will be good for a few more weeks as long as we don't get a big cold front that really knocks down the water temp. The lake is truly one of the best smallmouth lakes in Kansas right now as the fish are FAT! Greg![]()
