Here I've been chasing Drivability problem for about 5-6 months now......1st it started out it was hard starting and was OK after warmed up. Looked at plugs and were OK. Decided to clean fuel system since it hadnt been done for a while. Still having problems.....Changed Fuel filter and found to be ever so slightly plugged but nothing bad at all.....still doing it. Tried to see if it was an IAC motor and installed one....no fix...........Did a TPS sweep and saw a very small glitch.....replaced it and.....no fix.......did a MAP code test & thought the Baro readin was off for 1200 feet Eliv by voltage diff.......installed map.......no fix.
OK....so back to basics right? Went ahead and installed new plugs anyway and put new cap and rotor on it and found carbon tracking on rotor and cap was wearing.....I think this had to been the problem right......wrong. the random missfire was gone but still hesitates on accells and stumbles under a load...........................Finally took it into repair shop to perform Diagnosis (since I dont happaen to have a $1k tool do this at home) Found nothing on it but had requested that they perform a Fuel Pressure test just to verify........now for those who dont know about a 91' Chevy 5.7L with TBI.....these are a pain in the arse to do and I dont have adapters to do a FP test.......................Normal running pressure is supposed to be around 12 pounds..........FP test shows it running at 6 psi
HOW WAS the truck even runnig at 6 psi?
And I was driveing out of town all over the place for tourneys & kids fishing contest's
