New 250
If you haven't checked it out...photos and specs of the new 250 are on the Honda Marine web site.
Note the air intakes on the top of the cowling...they are functional.
With very little run time and chance to setup...the motor runs competitive.

Re: New 250 (HondaRay)
Will try and go to the lake later in the week for more testing...kinda bad weather for the first of the week.
The engine is rigged on a 921 Phoenix (21'6") with 4 gel cell batteries, spare prop and a TH marine oxygen generator in the rear compartment...not a lightweight setup.

Re: New 250 (HondaRay)
Excited to hear your results. Is it going on your 921?

Re: New 250 (Fishmark)
I am presently running the prototype 250 on a Phoenix 921. My new boat is being built, should be ready by the time the productions engines are available in the United States. And my new boat will be the 921.

Re: New 250 (HondaRay)

Re: New 250 (721 Pro XP)
Mark,
Good to hear from you. You are correct about the Verado Pro...it is a hoss. Because the steering and rigging is Verado specific, the 921 you rode in will be sold with the Verado.
Really a great rig.
Honda is a couple of months from releasing the new 250. It truly has some great features that the tournament fisher"person" is going to love. The performance will be comparable with most 250's, the gas mileage is absolutely miser.
Trust me, 721 Pro XP, you will drool when you see this engine in life...maybe next weekend if you ever get home from China.

I have been trying to find all the info I can on the new motor. Looking forward to hearing more.

Re: New 250 (Tommy13)
The displacement has been increased to 3.6 by stroking the 225 block.
The cowling has a cold air induction system...cold air is directed into the intake chamber
An exhaust fan removes heat from the engine
The gearcase is redesigned for improved performance. The water intakes have been changed to allow more water flow at higher mountings.
Blast technology
Overall the motor seems to be competitive and loses little speed with a heavy load
Still a fuel miser and the same Honda dependability

Whats a new Honda going to cost?

Re: New 250 (joeschon)
I will know pricing by the first of the year...but I would expect in line or not too much higher than the competition???

Re: New 250 (HondaRay)
Used the 250 in my first Bassmaster tournament last week. On a 921 Phoenix the engine performed great. Holeshot good, even with livewells full and full tournament gear.
Speeds were comparable with same boat with Pro XS...within 1/2 mile an hour. And still need more prop testing time.

Re: New 250 (HondaRay)
any data on the fuel mileage from your tourney and practice?
-
Re: New 250 (Smiffster76)
No...just that I practiced Tuesday and Wednesday, fished the tournament Thursday and Friday and started with 3/4 tank on my gauge...and came home with over a 1/4 tank. And absolutely ran all over many lakes.

Re: New 250 (HondaRay)
Should pick up my new 921 Phoenix with the 250 Honda tomorrow. Will be doing more tests with props and such soon.

Re: New 250 (HondaRay)
Call me when you need a co-pilot. We're finally getting rid of a lot of this water at Savannah. The lake is producing right now.
