    OKC Tackle show!

Was probably the best show I've ever been too. This was not a boat show, but a tackle show. They did however have a few Charger boats. The owners of the Charger Boat company where there. Real Nice people. One of which was a very young guy. Im guessing in his late 20's or so They had a lot of decent deals on fishing gear ie. placstic, weights (tungsten, and lake fork weights) line, etc. They also had a few custom rod makers there as well, and of course the gimmicky crap. They had a rod that has a battery built into the handle that has a button on it. When the button is pushed it puts a ticking pulse down the line!!!!! and the rod vibrates in your hand. (This particular rod was built on a IMX blank) BIG DEAL!!!!! Can't I do that with my hand. He demo'd it to us with about 6 feet of line out. Now I'm Thinking to my self "this is a load of crap" now I dont tell him that, but I thinkin if I cast out a tube about 25 yards or so with 12lb mono line. NO WAY IN HELL IS THIS THING GONNA TELEGRAPH THE TICKING SENSATION DOWN THE ROD TO THROUGH THE LINE, DOWN TO THE LURE. At this point in our conversation I put the rod butt up to my "nutz" push the button and say " I dont know if it'll help me catch fish, but it sure feels pretty nice. Might not get much fishing done if I owned this rod".. He had a pretty dry sense of humor and didn't as much as crack a smile On another good note Sarge bought a Berkely Series One Flippin Stick for $60.00! We get to the house and compare it to my G. Loomis IMX FSR 904X flipping rod, and low and behold it's CONSIDERABLEY lighter than my $340.00 Loomis ( I only paid 125 for it), but none the less it is lighter, and felt really nice when I put a jig on it and flipped it around the house. Sarge got himself a real nice rod :Of course the show had it's usuall hotties walkin round so that also added to the whole day, and made it that much better. Yes Im a happily married man, but a brother can look cant he?

Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

Interesting beetle. I thought is was a pretty sorry show - nowhere as good as the Kansas City Sport Show. Reminded me of the crappy thing they call a show here in Wichita. i was told by a local that this year's show was waaaay down, especially i9n tackle dealers, from the usual. Guess the guy who ramrodded it for years passed away recently.

Best parts for me: 1) picking up a very nice G-Blanks flipping stick from Larry Mitchell at a good price, 2) picking up a new Citica 100DSV, and 3) having lunch with Matt Little, a new friend from the OKC area. Oh - I enjoyed the hotties at the Dodge Ram booth too!!

I have never been to the KC show so I cant compare. Ive been to the sorry azz boat show in Topeka. I found some baits there that are hard to find anywhere but the internest. Reaction Innovations School Girl. They are a copy of the Swarming Hornet which is also next to impossible to find. I enjoyed the show, and will go again next year. There was one booth setup that had all their stuff off 50%. If I needed any gear I would have went to town. They had some quality baits for half off. You wont find that at many places. Im not talkin junk Im talkin good stuff. I know it wasnt a boat show but I would have loved to see a Champ 200 or 210. They did have a couple really nice looking Charger boats there however. The vendors were friendly, especially several of the guides from Fork, Ray Roberts, and Texoma. Very willing to share info and represented their businesses well. Boy I tell ya it seemed like everyguide there was sporting a Legend Bassboat Shirt! Did you happen to notice that Jim?

Doc</TD></TR></TABLE> Should have told me you were looking for a Citica. They have them here at Ft. Sill for 20% off. Sarge just bought a 200 for $85. I bought a Curado 200 DHSV for $115.00.

Ya can't ALWAYS get the best deals. And yes, I did notice all the Legend shirts - think I saw one Triton shirt and maybe a Skeeter or two. I just wish there had been more tackle dealers.

Enjoyed talking to Larry Mitchell from G-Blanks too - kept saying his wife gave him that cold!
