About four weeks ago I was fishing and ran about 4 miles after I launched the
boat. Shut down and fished for about 45 minutes. Cranked the motor up and
ran about a quarter of a mile and the engine acted like it ran out of fuel. Pump
the bulb the motor started idle fine and when a hit the hot foot it died again. I repeated that same procedure two more time before it took off and ran. I switch
tanks even with the tank I was running on showed a quarter of a tank. It never did
it again that day or the next day. I have had the boat on the water about six times
since and it had never died. I thought maybe my fuel gage was wrong or maybe
the fuel pick-up tube may have been a little short on that tank. This weekend I was on the water and guess what it died this time on the opposite tank than before. I repeated the same steps as before and it finally took off and ran. The bulb is not rock hard in either of the cases, but you can feel fuel go through it when you pump it. The motor runs strong and idles good, but it seems to me that it idles a little fast, about 750 to 800 rpms. the nearest dealer is about 2 hour from here and I was wondering if there was something I could check.
