    1997 Faststrike motor stalling

I have a 97 faststrike 150...just had carbs rebuilt a few weeks ago hoping to help it run a little better and it has until yesterday. Everytime I put it in gear the motor coughs and stalls. However if I put it in gear and hold the choke in, it will run properly. Also the bulb wouldn't hold pressure after it would stall. Seems like a fuel issue but where do I start? Thanks for any help.

Quickest thing to do is hook up a portable tank to rule out the boat's supply side. Then check that the carb bodies are secure on the throttle bodies. With the cover off check for fuel leaks.

Ok I will start there. I thought with the bulb losing prime then there is air getting in there somewhere

Agreed but where? As the bulb draws fuel in from the boat side, it could be an anti-siphon valve in the tank or something coming from the boat. If you look carefully at the port side belly pan you will see two hard plastic semi clear lines coming into the motor. One is the oil line the other is the fuel line. Carefully start the motor on cooling muffs and monitor the fuel line for air bubbles. That will give you a good starting point.

Ok championman....I put it on the muffs today. Within that little yellowish joint where the gas lines meet at the motor cover...I can see tiny very tiny air bubbles. I am guessing two things...
    1. That places my problem in the line coming from the boat
    2. That which seems to be tiny bubbles when at idle are magnified under a load or may very as the motor changes positions, and holding in the choke gives it enough extra gas to run inspite of the air

    True or false

Try fixing it where you see the bubbles... then when/if it doesnt fix the issue, then you can do what CM says...:)

Correct. When you hit the choke you are giving it an approx 5 second shot of fuel from the VST to the intake manifold bypassing the carbs. Take the flexible cover off the port side belly pan and check the fuel line there for either a slight leak or bad clamp. Also if you have a wally world primer bulb replace that with a BRP 3/8" primer bulb.

Ok I replaced fuel line and bulb from bult too belly pan. I also replaced the clear glass on the inside of the bellypan due to it being cracked. Run a tournament this past wkend. Blasted off and run like a top off the trailer, went to crank and move to my second spot and stalled when I put it in gear, did it the rest of the day. But would run good if I pushed in the choke. I am gonna replace the line from the tank to the bulb to see if that is letting air in.

Get rid of the glass filter... You will thank me later when it comes apart when the threads stip out during the middle of a tourney:)
