Well after a long off season mid sept to today she sat idle and without a lower unit. I let a friend borrow the lower unit last fall as his let do during a divisional. I successfully put my lower unit back on today and it wasn’t to bad. Shift rod height and its connection is the nail bite'r.
Ok quick question? For the past few years while pumping the fuel bulb i would sometimes see a bit of fuel in the engines carb area. i always thought it may have been a vent for a carb but the bulb would always get rock hard and motor ran good. Today i found the culprit. a small leak in the fuel module vapor cover. It appears to spray out the cover seal area. If that needle and seat is not sealing 100% at the fuel level height will it vent the excess fuel? I do recall in the past when cold or early season i would see the fuel but it goes away once warm. I can feel the float holding as the fuel bulb get hard and you can almost sense the click or shut off once the float reaches the preset level.
How bad a job is it to replace that vapor cover gasket? Can it be separated without pulling all the hoses off the barbs?

Also again thanks to Eddie Pope "Gearcaseman" for his help last fall in getting my buddy a lowerunit & guiding us throw the removal.
Look close you cna see the fuel spray if you contuine squeezing the fuel bulb.
