    Idea

Seeing Tim's "monster" smallmouth from Saturday got me to thinking about my oddest, weirdest, or just plain out of the ordinary catch. If you guys like post your wackiest catch on this thread. here is a small gator I caught at Lake Tarpon, FL WillyH20 was in the boat with me visiting while I was stationed there. Little sucker hit my frog as I was bringing across some pads. I unhooked him and got my bait back too!

I can honestly say I've never caught one of them! An alligator, that is.

How long was that thing??? Are they aggressive when they are that small? I don't have pics, but mine would be a catfish caught on topwater.... Caught a walleye on top too

    Re: Idea (dukhntr)

Caught a couple smallies on the same crankbait at Milford last year. If I remember correctly one of them won big bass that night at the Wednesday nighter.

Weirdest would be a turtle, I guess.

Tim should have a story about his dog.

No pictures, but I did hook my old dog in the nuts with a crappie jig one time...

We used to have this cool game of fishing for landing nets in my yard. Hide them next to trees, the swingset, etc. and cast at them and pretend we were fishing. Us poor folk couldn't afford to live on the water so we had to make due...anyways, the mutt ran behind me as I was casting and took the jig square in his boys. Took off running the other way stripping drag til the line snapped with the jig still deeply embedded. An overnight stay at the vet and a couple hundred bucks later he was good to go. Must not have done much damage, as he was able to father a couple litters of pups after the fact...

    Re: Idea (TimS)

I remember the old days of catching nets. Man we used to do that all the time. Tim you remember going out at night with a fly rod or spinning rod and catching toads underneath the street light? I'm guessing my neighbors thought that I was retarded and cruel.

Ahhh the toads were a good time as well. Now they have a public fishing pond in Valley, good thing they didn't have that back in the day...

Wheres the pond at Tim? Man if we spent all that time trying to catch nets and toads we would have been at that pond contantly.

It is over at the McLaughlin Park next to the high school. Brooks and I have been there a couple times, they keep it pretty well stocked with catfish and we have caught a few bass too.

I had a dog help himself to my limb line one time. Idiot ate all the liver and had a mouthfull of hooks when he dragged my limb line the 2 miles back to the house.

That couldnt have been a pretty site. Anybody see catfish on lines where you fish in lakes. I know at Big Hill I've seen numerous lines with fish on them.

The same dog found my fishing pole w/ a quail wing in the back of my dads truck when he was a pup and had sucked down the wing along with about 4 feet of line before I could catch him. Ever seen a dog try to pass fishing line?
