I'm considering hitting Kentucky Lake sometime during the first 2 weeks of October. Is it worth the drive from Ohio that time of year?
Thanks,
Jake

IMO it's better after it gets cooler, but it sure is a nice time of year to be on the lake.
My wife and I always go the first or second week of October for our anniversary. We haven't been able to really get into them yet on Kentucky lake. We normally camp in the LBL and fish around the 68 bridge area. I have been twice now the first week of November and did a lot better for average size and numbers but still haven'f found the bigger fish. Last year a friend and I got onto a school of shad in a pocket and I caught 35 keeper largemouth averaging about 2 1/2 lbs to about
3 1/2 lbs each and about 20 3 lbs wipers with them. Man what fun. I was tired after that. My buddy caught almost as many as I did out of the back of the boat.
I have been on KY/Barkley the last two years on the weekend of the 22nd for our classic. It has been tough for the whole club. Our average winning weight is around 22lbs. That is for two days!

It can be awsome in the fall about that time, best time to catch a big old smallie that time of the year on a spinner bait or top water fishing the flats on the edge of the main river and secondery points where you have shallow stumps and rocks.![]()
When you live in the state of Indiana, there is NEVER a bad time to fish Kentucky Lake! Just sayin.![]()

The night bite was AWESOME this week both large and smallmouth now The fall bite has started I was in 3 bays on Kentucky this week and you could time these schooling bass the wind blew constantly and nothing really happened until the wind died down right at sundown about 10 minutes later the water was exploding with fish it was the most fast paced catching I had ever done![]()
