I have a 1990 Ranger 365 with same year 150 evinrude and im running a 14 1/4 x 19P prop. Not getting much top end ive heard that a 24P raker will help me out on the top end. My question is i found an original raker size 14 1/2 x24P and im new to boating and do not know if the different size will make it not fit right? id rather ask people that have experience with boat first before i buy it. Also im running it pre mix with the gas and using the 40:1 ratio, is this correct?
And also ive heard a 27P shooter works too. i just want the best all around and more top end.

How many RPM's are you turning that 19? On the surface, I'd say you're underpropped, but without knowing your RPM's, prop to pad measurement, and water pressure (if you have a gauge), it's hard to say. Also, a GPS speed would help.

I would be concerned about too many RPM's - that 19 should be all over the limiter, and that isn't good for a happy outboard.

If i can remember i was running around 4800 RPM at around 45 or 46 MPH. I dont know if that is right but im not running close at all to top RPM.

I'm wondering if your compression is low and maybe the previous owner put that smaller prop on so it could get out of the hole ??

If you're only turning 4800 with a 19 pitch, I'd start with a compression test and see what it says. Something is NOT right - that motor should be all over the limiter with that prop.

When is the last time you've decarbed? Is the fuel fresh and treated? Carbs clean? New plugs and properly gapped?

I have had this boat for 3 years. i had a compression test done last year and they said everything was looking good with a carb cleaning and other new parts when they serviced it. Could i clean the carbs myself pretty easily? im just getting around to fool with speed stuff but im really not sure how many RPMs i was running i will try to get to the lake this week and see what she reads, but top speed is 47 with the 19P. i will get back with you guys on this asap!

That is GPS speed. I have a raker 24P on the way actually. so we will see what kind of RPMs and speed i get. i need to get a jackplate also.

Make sure the thrust washer , fits the back of the raker

Like the others said .... there is something WAY wrong. A 19 pitch prop on that boat would rev itself off the charts.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet ... you ARE using the trim to get the nose out of the water ... right? Please don't take offense to that question. I've seen and heard it before.

Also ... you "may" find that the 24 Raker is actually too much prop. Those are heavy boats. If you're looking at the Shooter, I would try the 25P instead of the 27P.

I may be wrong, and SeaHorse or Fred can give you the actual number, but I would shoot for 5500 RPMs at full throttle and trimmed up properly.

Shooter is not the best prop out there. If you want to go to a 4 blade a renegade would be a better choice. You will need a different thrust washer. You need to make sure your sync n link is on the money with that motor. You also need to be running Champion Ql77JC4 spark plugs gapped at .030. Your gas ratio should be 50:1.

From what was told to me was that the 27 shooter is more like a 25 p
Cause I thought it was huge also for a 150
My wot is 5450 rpm all day long

No argument here. EXCEPT, that I ran the same 25p shooter on 3 different Stratos boats with 150s, a 181-Pro, a 270, and a 274, and they all 3 turned 5400-5800 RPMs with that prop.

Props are like anything else ... no two are alike.

Fred, you are correct. The only reason I commented on it was that he mentioned the shooter earlier.
