My prop is 6-7 below the pad on my boat. I am wanting to raise the motor to 3.5.....If someone who has done this in the past can help i will provide dinner at my house.....say grilled sirloin and baked potato?

Do you have a jack plate?
If so, Raise it on up. If not, I believe there is a way to Mount the motor higher using different holes.
Larry where are you measuring from? Thats pretty low. If you have a jack plate its about a 10 minute job. I'd be more than happy to help you out. No dinner will be needed. I will be tied up until Sunday.
Measure Pad, measure prop center. subtract... Pad is 17 inches and prop is 9 inches. That is both pad level and motor level....

Are you sure you want to mess with it? I thought you last said you were getting 68.5 mph out of it......sounds like plenty for Javelin 379 with a 150 hp![]()
not that,,,i have gotten 67 somehting but not sure what has happened...I am only getting 60.2 with a Raker 24 BP by Mark

Have you changed the motor height since you were getting 67? If not, then I think I would be looking to see what changed.
Are you still getting the rpms that you were?
The only change is the spark plugs I have now are 2 years old and the prop has been reworked....also added a keel shield....I am happy with 60 just a little miffed i lost 7mph after the prop rework.....LOL...

Maybe going with a 23 would help - it would get you back into that rpm range and possibly make the hole shot a little better.
There's a few guys running a 23 on your boat on the owners boards:

Maybe an email or two might get you some info. on their experiences with it?
he could go to a different prop, but if he is 7 below the pad, i would move it up.

He still hasn't said whether or not he's got a jackplate........![]()
NO JP....I have about 2 inches of room to raise motor with current setup....looking at jack plates now i figure take motor off should just add JP while it is unbolted

It is a good time to replace all of your transom bolts. Make sure you get stainless steel and new nylock stainless nuts.
Mike I totally agree with you...also get rid of that B&W Marine....brace...

Sounds like your prop repair wasn't up to snuff. I put a plate on while you have the motor off. Seal the holes very well, new bolts and new nylock nuts.

How Shallow can you Run?
Just curious if your pad was level when you took your measurment, 7" is a quite alot. Most props come from the factory out of pitch with 3 different specs for each blade, I would guess after blueprinting your now running a true 24 on each blade resulting in your rpm drop with 27 psi of water you could stand to come up...get the plate![]()
I would give Mark a call if you lost this much speed and all you did is change the spark plugs and had the prop worked. You may want to put the old spark plugs back in since that is an easy test to see if it runs any different. I have had this happen to me before. No explanation for it. Rember hotter weather also has an effect on horsepower.
