Latest word on the lake levels

Here is the latest word on the lake levels as reported on explorekentuckylake.com:

New data released this evening from the Lower Mississippi River Forecast Center is calling for water discharges at Kentucky & Barkley Dams to begin decreasing Wednesday with virtually no discharge by Friday. With hoards of water coming down the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers over the next few days, the lakes will surely rise quickly. No projections on lake levels have been released that far out, but based on this data, we can expect sharp rises on Kentucky & Barkley Lakes later this week and into the weekend.

The gates at the dams will be shut off to help flood control on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. The NWS has called this a "catastrophic flood" that we are just now beginning to see the effects of. The lakes are being dumped right now to near winter pool levels so that they can store more water when the gates are shut later this week.

Re: Latest word on the lake levels (Dave Stewart)

Looks like with all the local runoff from recent rains they are still nearly two feet higher than where they were wanting to be at the present time. With inflow rates over 200,000 cfs I wonder how high it will get when they put the plug in the dam. I am surprised they are still dumping water at all right now with the Ohio in the shape it is in.

is to too early to say the rally will be a washout? how long does it usually take for the lakes to settle out if good weather is in the forecast?

I will be coming down this Sunday for a week. This is my first time to the lake. How high would the level be before it would be considered "unfishable" and not safe?

It was at almost 368 last year the first part of May and it was at right about summer pool by rally time. As long as the lake isn't closed I would think we could still have the rally.

Nope. It was closed the week prior to the rally then they dropped the bottom of it.

I just hope its not too bad the weekend before the rally as well. I have a Bass Weekend Series out of Moors on 5/7.

You won't be able to find a ramp. It would be a record if it went that hugh.

It has came up a foot in the last 12 hrs and they are still pulling 150,000. When they put the plug in with 300,000 inflow how fast will it jump?
