Anyone know what the water level is at Patoka? The corps site has not updated for 3 days.

As of last Friday it was almost a foot above summer pool....After that down pour we had sat. morning and the way the creeks were running muddy water that afternoon I'd say it's up probably another foot. Then all the rain we're suppose to get the next several days it will probably go up some more. I pity those guys that were out sat. fishing that tournament with all that rain, lightning and wind. Then Sunday the wind was really getting it again for the other tournament. I stayed at the camp instead of going out on the lake. I really hate to fish in high wind anymore it's just not any fun....
I checked the corps site and the lake is at 537.2 and slowly rising. This coming weekend is only suppose to be up in the low to mid 50's hopefully that will change before then.

Hey larry, wise choice on your part stayin at the campground. That stom rolled in so fast we barely had time to run under the bridge in south lick.It looked like a damn convention under there too,15 boats under that one all holdin on for dear life. That wind was really rockin and had guys bouncin off each other,it sucked to say the least.

My wife and I were sitting on our deck watching the storm roll in...We have several camps at Wildridge. I know the second big lighting bolt looked like it was right around the south lick boat ramp area. I've been caught out in several storms like that and it isn't any fun either. My dad called and he lives in washington and told us about the bad weather that was coming and about ten minutes later my next door neighbor at the lake called and said it was raining so hard in petersburg you couldn't see across the street. About 30 minutes later it was there. You guys had to see the black sky rolling in ahead of the rain. That was about as nasty as I've seen it up there and I been going there since the lake was impounded. I was out there several years ago up in dumplin creek when the tornado hit marengo and I had the radio on 104.7 in Jasper and they never said one thing about a tornado until it had already passed by. Lucky for me and several other boats it went south of us several miles. I stayed out in open water then because I wanted to stay away from the bank and trees all the way back to walls ramp. That was the hardest wind I've ever been in at Patoka. I pay closer attention now if a bad storm is moving in. I'll take the boat out and wait it out from now on since I haven't forgot these words my dad told me.....I'd rather be a live coward than a dead hero......I totally agree.......
Good to see you guys made it back ok. My wife and I went to French Lick to eat sat. evening and Lanes motel was full of boats and every creek I seen was running and muddy......
Did you catch anything?...

We only caught 3 short fish all day and the 30 other fools under the bridge with us didn't have anything either, that end of the lake was just dead.Temps were anywhere from 58-62 down there, should have been up shallow but they just weren't there.Only took 12 lbs to win the tourney, which is pathetic there any time of the year and they were caught up near walls i think.
We saw dark clouds towards jasper but it rolled in before we knew what hit us,it was moving fast. The wind was unreal, probably the worst storm i've ever been caught out in.All the creeks feeding in down there turned into hard rolling little rivers, that storm dumped a lot of water,it was crazy.
i was in it too huddled under painter creek bridge with 10 other boats.it was freakin brutal to say the least!and i put my rain gear on 5 minutes after it was over![]()
