    Kentucky Lake Vacation Accomodations Requested

My wife and I have decided to make Kentucky Lake our fishing vacation destination this year. We've never been there before but hope to spend a week in late spring/early summer and are looking for accommodation recommendations. So if you don't mind hitting a couple of 60-something Ohioans with some recommendations it would be appreciated.

We will be trailing our boat with us.

I'm already researching Moores Resort and the Fish Tale Lodge but all comments and recommendations are welcome. Thanks alot.

The North End of Kentucky Lake you cannot bet Moors or Ken lake in the Mid section around the Paris you have Fishtales either rooms or a cabin and there is the Paris state park also Buchanan Resort and there is another cabin rental place on 79 about 3 miles before the bridge. Lower end you got birdsong which has cabin rentals.

All depends on where your wanting to stay at. If your going in may I would stay around the Paris area some great fishing only a few mile south and north of there !

I stayed a Hester's Resort, Nice cabins and was able to leave boat in water, undercover, and plug in. Nice lady that ran the place.

Would suggest Moore's myself, but the time period you are wanting it might be rough do to all the Tournaments that center out of Moore's.
Oh Moore's used to (before the twister) have cabins with whirl pool bath tubes.

Thanks for the responses so far. Please keep them coming. One other question: Does Kentucky have reciprocity with Tennessee or do you need a separate license to fish Kentucky Lake waters that are in each state?

    Thanks,
    Jake

As far as the fishing,I would go to the south end, less traffic. Fishtale is my favorite, very nice folks and accomodations.

There is an agreement between Ky and Tn,anything "between the bridges",which is Highway 68/80(mid lake near Ken Lake) and Highway 79(south at Paris),either license is fine. North of 68/80-Ky License, south of 79-Tn License. Hope this helps.

You will need a KY licence if you fish in Blood River. Other than that, it's from the 68/80 bridge south to the 79 bridge either licence will work.

I stayed at Leatherwood Resort last Spring and really like it. It's about 8-10 miles south of the bridge at Paris. The places there are pretty nice and great for a fishing week. Also, they have a restaurant that serves great food for all 3 meals as well as beers and margaritas if you like to drink. They offer boat slips for a few $$ each night but you only have to tow your boat a few hundred yards each day if you trailer it.

(Not to mention the cook/waitress was smoking hot! )

if you stay at the north end i would stay at the bel-air.(270-362-4254).it's less than a mile from the ramp,u can park in front of the room for most rooms, outside elec. hook-up,1/2 the rooms have kitchens but they charge the same, great showers, and around back there are some cabins to rent.good place to stay with good rates.

I think that between the bridges it is reciprocal only if you are a resident of Ky/Tenn. If memory serves me, and usually it doesn't, one of the BASS Elites found this out the hard way. Don't recall who but they did get a ticket for fishing Tenn water with a non resident Ky license.

The two places I am most familiar with are on Barkley. Green Turtle and Buzzard Rock. Green Turtle is really nice but maybe a little more expensive. Buzzard Rock is a little more rustic but they do have a nice restaurant and bar. Bands on Friday and Saturday nights. Green turtle is maybe a 1/2 mile from the cut to Ky lake. It would take you maybe 5 minutes to get to Ky Lake from Buzzard rock. Hope you enjoy your stay at the lakes.

You could join the group for the rally at Moors Resort in the middle of May.

That is correct just between the bridges is reciprocal except for Blood River. You need a Ky licence to fish Blood river and it was Tommy Bifle from the elites who had a TN Licence and he went past the reciprocal area into Ky waters

Thanks for the invite, I noticed the rally was at Moors. That happens to be the week we go to Presque Isle for those spring time smallies. I bet you guys have a great time though.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Kentucky Beach Resort is at the mouth of Blood River. They have cabins and alot of crappie folks in the spring. stayed there several times, no problems. Can keep the boat in the water too all week. 1-800-big bass (or 888) can't remember!

I spoke with some one today that said they watched Biffle fish. He was on Ky Lake between the bridges. He had a nonresident KY licence and was fishing just past the Tenn. line. I can't believe the warden actually checked him. Any how, If I was a nonresident fishing Ky lake I believe I would purchase both Ky and Tenn licence if I thought I would cross the state line.

So if there's an agreement "between the bridges" ,other than Blood River, which requires a KY license, and he had a Ky license(resident or non-resident,doesn't matter),there is no possible way he could have gotten a ticket for being in TN waters if he was fishing between the bridges. And if you'll read the article, the part that says the state line sign is in the woods,as pointed out by the game warden, doesn't take a rocket-scientist to figure out where he was...(page 15 of the regs under "Bordering Waters")
