Between $3,500-$4,500 for a reman. Call Riverside Marine in Ark for a price. May also want to contact Chris Carson down in the Keys or Monty Racing for a price to rebuild yours.
thanks championman

Just looking at the pictures why is that top cylinder so black compared to the other cylinders, Is that from a lean condition Fred?
Stroker DC21 Mercury 250 XB
That looks like the old #2 cylinder syndrome. Did you have the hi speed jet 2 sizes larger? Did you have the newer carb drain plugs? The carbed Johnny/Rudes used the bigger jets for extra cooling in #2, and the drain plugs had a tit on them to keep the mains from backing out... From the damage, it looks like you may find a used engine for about the same as a rebuild.
no i didn't should of listened 2 u guys about doing it there were 76d in all carbs the drain plugs are in the front of carb right
That one is #1 cylinder. Yep the drain plug keeps the HS orifices in their pocket. Not too terrible bad. Need to figure why she popped. Looks like you lost a locating pin on the piston #1 doesn't usually go on them. Junk in #1 carb?
i had 2 push choke in 2 get on plane. I had the motor trimmed up for 3or so hours while trolling through the grass i was fishing
Didn't get an over temp did you? Really not that bad of a repair though just from the looks of the pictures. I'd bore #1 out .030" OS new starboard piston/rings set .030" oversize, hone the rest and new rings in the remaining cylinders. Rebuild the carbs and inspect reeds or replace with carbon fiber while it is down and apart. New water pump kit should be good as new.![]()
no overheat 30psi on waterpressure gauge and water temp gauge was normal
I have the same exact motor ,would like to find out what made yours let go.
Some dummy had put 74d in all my carbs ,I put 76d in all but number 2 put a 78d in it.
Whats your thinking of cause, just running the hell out of it and older motor ???
BIG BASS

that looks just like my 200 did,2 times on that hole.
it is an old motor but it only has 106hrs on it i didn't put a bigger jet in it like i should have.![]()
Fred will correct me if I'm wrong, I seem to remember that some people would add a little oil to the fuel, along with the upgrades to the #2 cylinder and new drain plugs when running the old carb HO's hard. Fred is right, that was # 1 cyl, which is uncommon......
i took off my vro 1yr ago, put a fuel pump on started mixing my gas never had a bit of trouble![]()
Pull off your carbs and inspect them. Then pull the intakes off and look closely at the reeds.
i am gonna start tearing into this beast this weekend and will keep u posted

When you start the tear down, make sure to look at the little things hardest.... most of the time they will lead you in the direction of what caused your issue....:)
