Would have been about 45 minutes before sunset, so boats could still run at speed.

Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
Found out today that it was a former co-worker of my wife's grandson and his other grandmother who were killed in the grandparents' bassboat. The boy was 8, and was one of a set of triplets.
The other boat was a wakeboard boat with three 19 year-olds operating it. No cause released as of yet, but I'm sure we all can make some pretty good guesses.

It was a Monroe/Patoka crappie guide's wife and grandson. He was out with his wife and triplet grandsons when the collision happened. Apparently head on.![]()

I have heard that the media is completely missing this one. The e-mail I saw, from an eye witness, was that it was not a head on collision but rather the ski boat was traveling at a high rate of speed and turned directly into the side of the bass boat. After that, the ski boat left the scene of the accident. Not really sure why the facts aren't being reported correctly or why there were no arrests made but something doesn't sound quite right. Hopefully the DNR figures out what happens and makes things right.
The pictures of the boats seem to indicate that the ski boat hit the Ranger at about the passenger seat, and that the ski boat wasn't much more than scuffed.

I may have got that same email. It basically said that the guys in the ski boat refused to help get them back to the boat and this was from the POV of the guy that was hit. He called it a crime on the water and he is right.
I was out there all night last night around Moore's Creek and saw boats running full out until a few minutes before 10. Official sunrise is 9:15 and didn't see a single CO chase anyone down. DNR needs to get off their a** or stories like this will be a weekly event.
At one point there were two boats running when you couldn't even make out what kind of boats they were.
