Ky or Barkley This Weekend

I have a small club tourney Sat. Its a trailer tx so I can go either. I am really wanting to try some ledges on North KY. Mainly between the bridge and lets say Johnathan Creek. However we caught fish pretty good on Barkley last weekend. Did not have a huge sack, just keepers and a 6lb kicker. Got us third with big fish. Just curious if anyone knows what type pressure the lakes are going to have this weekend. I know there is a BFL Sunday, so I am sure those guys would be about hard Saturday. I cant make up my mind where I want to go. I hate to go to KY and every ledge I want to fish have a boat on it. Any Input?

The KY Lake Poker run is this Sat out of the damn and the weekend series is going out of the State Park on Barkley ! Going to be a very busy weekend no matter were you go !

Trailer to Dover TN. TN is off limits for the BFL, but I heard it was busy last weekend too.

There is no pre-fish rule for BFL correct?
Also how many boats will be in the poker run and the weekend series? And do you know there times?

the poker run has close to 100 boats from what i have heard and the weekend series will pull 60-75 prolly !

Dont they just run from the damn to paris then back? I am sure it will be a ton of wake when they come through!

You also have the Christmas for kids charity out of the dam Saturday. They are down for 150 boats and another tournament for 25. It's going to be a big weekend!!!

It's not so much the wake, but the noise! They take off in flights, and make various stops down the lake, picking up poker cards along the way - I know in the past they've ventured over onto Barkley before, was at Green Turtle Bay when they came through to pick up poker cards. Pretty awesome sight. They usually have a chase helicopter filming too.

They plan to run on KY only this year, to Paris and back.

Does anyone know the time for the weekend series out of state? If i fish Barkley I will probably put in there since I will be ledge fishing from Little river to the bridge. Our tourney leaves out at six from the BP station, so it will be 6:15 before I put in, just want to make sure I take out before they do as I have to be back at 2:30 Thanks

BWS is scheduled 5:30 - 2:00 ... Devils Elbow may be a good choice to put in if fishing Barkley.

Check the KDFW tourney schedule...you will see there is also a KBF qualifier and Wilcat Tourney out of N. Barkley on Saturday to add to the fun...it is gonna be a zoo no matter what direction you go this weekend.

I think I may decide on South Barkley, Little River and down. Hopefeully I can sneak in on ledge there. How is the Devils Elbow ramp? I have never put in there.

It's a Corps. of Engineers ramp - about 2 lanes wide, with a courtesy dock. Parking is sometimes a mess later in the day, but you should be there early enough that it won't be an issue.

FYI----Little River is a MUDHOLE right now ! Heavy thunderstorms the last few days, coupled with soybean planting up-river have left Little River looking like a hog wallow.

IMHO it would be better to fish N. Barkley or S. Kentucky.

we stayed on Barkely all day,,,,,the poker run was so loud we heard the rumble all the way on Barkley

Those boats running in the poker run were insane. Had a buddy running 65mph and two of them passed him like he was sitting still. He said within 4 minutes they were out of sight. I know they made some big waves on Kentucky, but not nearly as big as the cabin cruisers going 40 mph and putting off a wake 6 ft high

great... I have a 15' ProCraft and hope to not have to put up with to many of the cabin cruisers the end of this week and weekend. It will be my first time to KY and Barkley and i am so ready to get down there!

Heck, the way the wind blew saturday the wake from the poker run was nothing. There really was not that many of them. KY lake was rolling that morning untill about 10. I fished from Anderson to Johnathan Creek. Caught about 50 fish, but the keepers where few and far between. Had to hang it up two hours early b/c the trolling motor batteries went dead. Ran on high all morning to stay on the ledges. Out of the 8 ledges I fished I caught fish on 6 of them. Only had 1 4lb smallie to show for it though.
